It’s not a full post today, but I just wanted to check in after another of my extended breaks. I didn’t intend to take almost a month off, but I’ve just been struggling to get on top of things.
Since July I’ve had a much bigger workload outside of this blog than I’ve ever had before with a 40 page dissertation and full time work for the first time in my life. I’m not going to make more excuses on top of that, because I really do want to keep the blog going and I full intend to get back into it properly – starting today!
That said, I’m not promising two or three posts a week because knowing how things have panned out this year it could easily fall apart. However, I do have a few posts in mind already for the end of the year and there are plenty of ideas going around for 2018.
I’m planning on doing a couple of posts of the anime of year as well as doing seasonal roundups and insights for Fall and Winter. I’m also going to get back into doing lists more often – I got put off by the opinion some bloggers have, in the past, shared that lists were a lazy form of writing that isn’t really suitable for wordpress blogs. It isn’t about what a small minority think though and I enjoy writing list posts so expect to see some more of them in the new year.
Hopefully, I’ll be back with something new very soon –
Hi everyone! I’m back, and hopefully this time, I’ll be back for good. I handed my dissertation in and finished four years of studying history at university to an end of Friday. While this means I’ll be entering the real world (and selling books as a full time job for a while!), it also has the upshot of meaning I’ll only be writing on my blog from now on.
Like the post I put up at the end of July, this is just a little update, before the real articles get going again, to let you all know what I managed to fit in around all of my work in August.
You may remember a little while ago I asked for you all to choose the next anime I should next and by the narrowest of margins you pointed me in the direction of Spice and Wolf, an anime that had been on my plan to watch list for far to long. Today I watched the final episode of season one and am preparing my review which means I need some help deciding what to watch next!
I thought I’d try and keep this interactive interesting so this time I’ve limited the selection to sequels. That is shows that I’ve already seen a season of and for whatever reason didn’t get a chance to continue at the time. It’s a slightly longer list than last time and has at least one show that I’m not sure about myself (can you guess which?) – but I leave myself at the mercy of you, the gentle reader.
Feel free to select more than one if you can’t decide, many is better than none!
Thanks for taking part and I’ll post the results at the start of next week!
In case you missed the original post and can’t be bothered to look back on it the five options were:
Spice and Wolf
Higashi no Eden
Kill la Kill
And the winner, by only one vote, was Spice and Wolf! It’s been on my plan to watch list for a long time so I’m looking forward to get start with it in the next couple of days. If you’re disappointed or didn’t vote, as I say I will be doing some more of these in the future – possibly on themes – so keep your eyes open for that!
My plan to watch list feels like an ever growing pit that increases by five every time I watch something – serves me right for watching so many seasonal shows I guess.
I’m crawling towards the finish line with Hand Shakers and I really want to be able to binge something good when I’m done. So I’d like to humbly ask you all for some advice. I’ve picked five shows that I’ve been meaning to watch for ages and stuck them in a poll. If you’ve got fifteen seconds to cast your eye over a list, please do and tell me what I should watch next!
And if you won’t do it for me, do it for Yui instead.
Hey guys, just a quick one from me this evening and I’m afraid it isn’t very exciting.
I wanted to let you know about you things that I’ve been thinking about for a little while that I will either be thinking about harder or will be starting on the blog soon.
Firstly, as you may remember if you were around at the New Year, I talked about changing the name of the blog. It was meant to happen in January, I mentally told myself it would happen in February and now we’re in March and sad to say I’m no closer. Here’s hoping for a lightning bolt of inspiration. In all seriousness though, I would still like to change the name, The Tiny World of an Anime Amateur is fine, but I should face up to facts: it’s a bit of mouthful and it sounds a bit naff.
You may have also noticed in the last few weeks I’ve been having a bit of identity crisis – no not IRL, just with my display name! I moved away from showing my real name before coming back to it again. Like the site name, if I can think of good one I will change it, but my name is my name and I see no harm in having my name on this site for you guys to see.
I’ve also been thinking about spending some money on my site – you know, removing the .wordpress bit and getting some more storage as I quickly start to run out. As a result, I’m going to start using affiliate links: these will only be related to the things I write (so for example on my review of the Your Lie in April Blu-Ray, I would put a link to that product and so on) – I don’t want it to be intrusive, but if it could help towards future upkeep, even a little, that would be great.
Finally, I want to start writing more about manga. At the moment I sporadically review each chapter release of Attack on Titan, but apart from that, I do very little. This is pretty strange really as I actually read quite a lot more manga and work in a bookshop… so expect more manga goodness soon.
Thanks for reading as always! 🙂
